Tom Skornia
Tom passed away from cancer in 2005. He was a valuable member of The Quest Team and highly respected in both the community and high technology industries. For more than 30 years he practiced as an attorney with offices in San Jose and San Francisco, California. Focusing on high technology start-up and emerging growth companies in Silicon Valley, he was founding counsel, Secretary and Director to both Applied Materials and Advanced Micro Devices. In the early 1970's he was the organizer and coordinator of the SEMI-sponsored Special Energy Committee of the Semiconductor Industry and the Ad/Hoc Committee of California Semiconductor Manufacturers, the immediate predecessor to the Semiconductor Industry Association, of which he subsequently was the organizing counsel and a member of its Trade Committee. Tom was also a Director of Auto Recognition Systems, the founding counsel and Secretary of Tetron, Inc. and Swift Microelectronics Incorporated. More recently, Tom served as Secretary, Director and counsel to Systems Chemistry Incorporated, TeTech, Inc., Best Internet Communications, Inc. and Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network, Inc., Smart Valley, Inc., CommerceNet, Inc., and other initiatives of the joint venture enterprise. He also has served as special counsel on a limited engagement basis to SEMI itself. Mr. Skornia was an honors graduate of Grinnell College, Iowa and earned a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. We greatly miss his contributions. Articles by Tom Skornia |
